                        GOVERNMENT OF INDIA.
                        HOME DEPARTMENT.

                        New Delhi, the  6th March, 1940.

                        O R D E R.

        Whereas the Central Government is satisfied with respect
to the person known as    P. C. J o s h i
that, with a view to preventing him from acting in a manner
prejudicial to the efficient prosecution of war, to the defence
of British India or to public order, it is necessary to make
the following order:-

        Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by
clause (b) of sub-rule (1) of rule 26 of the Defence of India
Rules and by sub-section (4) of section 2 of the Defence
of India Act, 1939, the Central Government is pleased to
direct -

        (1) that the said  P. C. Joshi  be arrested
by the Police wherever found, and detained until further
orders of the Central Government, and

        (2) that the power of determining from time to time, under
sub-rule (5) of rule 26 of the said Rules, the place in which
and the conditions under which the said  P. C. Joshi
may be detained, shall be exercisable also by the Provincial
Government of the Province in which the said  P. C. Joshi
is arrested.
